As the economy improves, you may be thinking of bringing on more “regular, full-time employees” but may be worried about taking on the expenses an employee brings (health insurance, PTO, etc.) should the economy tank again.

A temp-to-hire situation may be just the ticket.

A temp-to-hire agreement means you ask StaffEx to find you an employee to fill a position on a temporary basis with the idea that, if you like the employee (and the employee likes you), you will hire the employee yourself after a certain amount of time. The temp-to-hire process usually takes three months/90 days, although we can work out other arrangements with you if you’d like to arrange a longer trial period with the employee.

Temp-to-hire positions are good for businesses because it allows a company to get a real feel for a worker before taking him on the payroll. Many people are excellent at interviewing but poor performers; a temp-to-hire arrangement with StaffEx can help you weed out those whose stars shine brightly but briefly.

Temp-to-hire assignments also are very attractive to people looking for regular employment because the assignment is longer and has the potential to end with an offer of regular employment with you.

All of our employees sent on a temp-to-hire assignment know there’s no guarantee of a job offer at the end and so hurt feelings are kept to a minimum. In fact, it’s almost always the case that both the temporary employee and the employer decide the temp-to-hire position is not a good fit. No one is disappointed and we then send you another person to try out for the position as we look for another assignment for our employee.
