If your staffing supervisor contacts you about a “terrific temp-to-hire assignment I want to pass by you,” you may wonder what she’s talking about and if this is something you should consider.

We’re biased, of course, but if you’re looking for full-time work, our answer to whether you should go on a temp-to-hire-assignment is a resounding YES!

Temp-to-hire means one of our clients wants to bring in a temporary employee with the intention of putting him or her on the client’s payroll in about three months if all goes well.

“All goes well” means the temporary worker can do the job, enjoys the job and is a good fit for the company’s culture. Temp-to-hire assignments are terrific opportunities for both client and temporary to “try each other out” before committing to a more permanent relationship.

You should understand going in, however, that accepting a temp-to-hire assignment in no way guarantees that you will be chosen to go on to the client company’s payroll. The client may decide you’re not a good fit. You could decide the company is not a good fit.

If that’s the case, we’ll remove you from the assignment and place another temporary worker in the slot. We’ll also work diligently to find you another assignment that better suits your skills and needs.

You’ll more than likely work at the company in a temporary capacity for at least 90 days. This gives everyone a real opportunity to see if you and the position and the company are a good fit. If everyone agrees it is, the company will place you on its payroll and you’ll no longer be a StaffEx employee.

If you decide within that 90 days that the position and/or the company is not a good fit for you, please let us know as soon as possible. We may ask you to stay on at the client company for a few days (rarely more than a week) while we search for your replacement (and another assignment for you).

If you’re looking for a chance to prove yourself on the job, contact StaffEx. We can place you in temp-to-hire (as well as temporary and even direct-hire) assignments with some of Tampa Bay’s best companies.
