What do you see for the future of your company? While many organizations spend a lot of time crafting their mission statement and developing company culture few actually take time to determine their long term company vision. How can you create a positive vision for your company?

5 Steps to Create a Positive Company Vision

Determine what you’re working on.

A mission statement is a great start but it isn’t the entire picture. You need to establish the core projects you’re working on and create a vision to follow through with them. What are your ultimate goals? And what are the goals after that?

Determine how far in the future you want to see.

You can create a positive company vision for a year out or ten years in the future. It may help to start with baby steps before establishing something that will take twenty years to accomplish. However, even small steps will help you develop a long term strategy.

List your proudest accomplishments.

Before you decide what your future vision is take some time to look at your past. What have been your company’s biggest successes? How can you replicate those or take them to the next level?

Write the first draft of your vision.

Once you have the notes on what you want to accomplish long term and how long you want it to take it is time to put those thoughts on paper. Write a first draft of your vision statement.

Input, edit, and share.

Ask your team members, employees, and top customers for feedback on your vision. Use this to edit your document and make important changes that can affect your ability to accomplish these things. Once you have a final product you should share it with your audience. Publish it on your website and frame it in your office so you can continuously refer to it as you work the plan.
