Were you swept up in the wave of company culture in 2014? It seemed to be a common discussion and many companies made big changes in their organizations to improve their company culture. Corporate values and mission statements became more than just words, companies really focused on demonstrating these ideals to their employees and customers. So how do you revamp your company culture without losing the experiences that make you authentic? Here are some ideas.

Manage your expectations.

You aren’t going to go from zero to Google in a month. Instead, take smaller steps and use the tools you already have. Review how your current mission statement supports your business. To stay on track, eliminate anything that isn’t serving your company. Avoid traps that will take you off course chasing things that don’t support your mission.

Look to corporate role models.

Other businesses have already successful created strong corporate cultures so there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Most business owners are happy to pass on what they know as long as you’re not a direct competitor. Connect with other local businesses and schedule a time to talk with them about what works in their business.

Build your trust with your employees.

The most important aspect to a successful company culture is satisfied employees. You need to entice new hires and keep your entire staff loyal. The best way to do that is to encourage trusting relationships. Your team will want to be part of the organization if they feel valued and they trust management.

Use all feedback to improve.

Lastly, you want to make sure that you use any and all feedback to improve your company. Look to your clients to see why they continue to do business with you and improve on any aspects that are lacking. Do the same with your employees. Why do they like working for you? What could be changed or improved?
