Good people refer good people. But you need to have a plan in place to ensure that your business is getting the best out of employee referrals. Your existing employee base can give you a great pool of new hires for your Tampa, FL jobs. In exchange, you can offer incentives, build positive teamwork environments, and increase productivity. But how do you get the most out of your employee referral programs? How can it be a tool to improve your business? Here are some ideas to get started.

Performance-Based Bonuses

A direct exchange of money for hire isn’t always the best incentive to provide you with quality candidates. You will pre-screen everyone and make the final hiring decision, but it is a good idea to put some of the onus on the referring employee. Don’t pay out immediately. Pay after 30 days on the job. Or, give a partial bonus at the time of hire and reward the referring employee with another bonus after two or three months.

Departmental Policies

Employees’ friends and family members may be perfect for the job, but they can be distracting too. You may want to only consider referral employees for other departments to prevent unnecessary drama or problems in the office. This will also give your staff incentive to suggest people with a wide variety of skills.

Always Accept Referrals

Even if you’re not actively hiring, listen to suggestions from your staff. You should always meet with individuals who have been referred by top performers. There may be an instance where they are worth finding a job for or keep them in mind for the next open position.

Use into Their Professional Networks

Employee referrals shouldn’t just be in-person suggestions. You should take advantage of the information age. Connect with them on LinkedIn, which will open up a huge network of potential candidates from first to third tier connections. As they add people to their networks, have a look at information to find out if it is relevant.
